Jana Hojdová

Jana Hojdová is a Czech cinematographer and director working across feature films, documentaries, short films and music videos.

She graduated from the Cinematography Department at FAMU in Prague. Her early work received recognition at several international film festivals: The Dream was nominated for Best Cinematography at Camerimage in 2015 and received the Jaroslav Kučera Award from the Czech Society of Cinematographers in 2016. Her documentary Chronicle — Petr Hojda was nominated at Kamera Oko in 2015.

As Director of Photography, Jana shot Šimon Holý’s Mirrors in the Dark, And Then There Was Love…, Hello, Welcome and Chica Checa. The films premiered at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival; Chica Checa entered the Crystal Globe Competition in 2026.

She also worked as Director of Photography on Haruna Honcoop’s Annexions, served on the international jury at Kamera Oko and on the FAMUFEST jury, and founded the production company Bridge Films.

In 2026, Jana made her feature-length directorial debut with Robert Richardson: The White Devil, a documentary about the three-time Academy Award-winning cinematographer. The film premiered in the Special Screenings section at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
